How to care for a quartz countertop

Quartz needs little upkeep, but a few simple habits keep it looking good for years. Here's the essential part.

Everyday cleaning

A soft cloth, warm water and a bit of dish soap are all you need. Wipe up spills fairly quickly, especially wine, coffee or sauces, even though quartz resists stains well.

What to avoid

Avoid abrasive pads and harsh products like bleach or oven cleaner, which can dull the finish over time. No sealing needed: quartz isn't porous.

Heat and knives

Put hot pots on a trivet instead of directly on the counter: intense, sudden heat can mark the resin. Use a cutting board rather than cutting straight on the surface.
